Master's DegreeUniversity of Sussex

I am a Programme Management Specialist who has an MA degree in International Economics (International Trade and Development) but with a span of over 20 years of experience in programme/project management in various fields particularly food and income security/livelihoods, where I have managed projects that supported smallholder farmers to be more productive - agriculture as business, post-harvest management, facilitated formation of agriculture cooperatives, established seed capital for NGOs to buy farm produce, supported the constructing small dams and distribution and use of treadle pumps and installation of solar powered irrigation systems including value chain analysis of special crops and supporting marketing for specific crops such as pigeon peas and groundnuts. Other agriculture subsectors that I have provided leadership include climate smart agriculture, disaster risk management, humanitarian support (both cash and food distribution), Building community resilience, Nutrition - all integrated with Gender, HIV and AIDS, Disability and Youth as cross cutters. Furthermore, I have provided leadership in projects proposal writing (concept Note, Logical Framework, Risk Log, Implementation plan, Quarterly Work-plans), Strategic planning (Context analysis, Risk Analysis, Policy Alignment, Budgeting) Project implementation (coordination, managing donor relations, staff management, work schedules, workflows, timesheets, contracts management, financial management, procurement), field monitoring (M&E plans, reporting, lesson learning), undertaking/leading review and evaluation missions. I have performed these activities under several institutions which are: DFID, EU/UNDP, Royal Danish Embassy, and GIZ and INGOs (Christian Aid/Malawi and South Sudan). I have also managed several donor funded programmes in a form of Basket Funds, Bilateral and Trust Fund. Throughout my career, I have acquired a number of development tools that I use in managing team members. Some of the tools are: people/task oriented leadership, partnership and systems approach, Results Based Management or Management for Results, Programme Based Budgeting and others. I also apply development principles in managing projects/programmes and these are: Do No Harm, Crisis Modifier/Conflict-Sensitivity, Leave No One Behind and Sustainability principles. I also use Statistical Tools in setting up Monitoring and Evaluations systems which are key in tracking development results and these are complimented by technological innovation (including statisitical packages) to deliver expected results at community level and as well as communicating both descriptive and quantitative progress to all stakeholders.
