I am gunning for change and fuelled by 18 years of professional expertise. Driven by my lifelong passion for education, underpinned by years of hands-on experience as a teacher and schools policy maker at local and national government levels, and equipped with a rich skill set from my time as Director of Education in publishing, I have a lot to offer an organisation that is looking for someone with energy and a fresh perspective on making an impact in education development. I have deep insight and understanding into teaching and learning from my years in the classroom, but my commercial background means that I'm used to setting, driving and delivering high standards and I will bring this ambitious and dynamic mindset to your organisation.
Everything I have done up to now has prepared me for a career in education reform, improving the quality of teaching and learning and creating more equitable access to education worldwide.
Having left the private sector with an enriched skillset, I want to find an opportunity to apply these skills in a more meaningful way, in an environment driven by humanitarian values rather than commerce.
Empathy, insight and communication are 'soft-skills' that I have turned in to 'hard wins' for the organisations I have worked for.
In my seven years at The Copyright Licensing Agency, I joined the Education team and within two years was promoted to Head of Education (a new role) by expanding our networks and sector engagement programmes and designing a new business model to secure 100% market penetration which subsequently became a standard industry model. I was promoted to become a Director and established a new department, Public Sector, to extend those models across our public sector client base.
Engagement with my sectors and dynamic stakeholder management was essential to my success in the complex negotiation process that secured long-term, mutually beneficial contracts with my key accounts across Education and the Public Sector, such as the current model of central licensing of Intellectual Property across Government, the NHS and with the Department for Education(DfE) for Schools which I was responsible for creating, negotiating and delivering and which has since become a standard model for other collective rights management organisations across the industry.
