I have specialized as a Public Defender Trainer and supervisor for the last 19 years. I have been the trainer for the Clark County Public Defenders Office since 2005. I designed an 8 week boot camp type program for all new lawyers hired by the office. I have also handled all types of jury trials including life sentence sexual assault and murder cases. I am death penalty qualified and have tried death penalty cases as well. I would like to spend the rest of my career helping other nations develop and improve indigent defense services. In 1989, I was awarded a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship to study the rights of the accused in China, India, and Argentina. After spending 23 years practicing law primarily as a Public Defense Trainer and Supervisor, I want to spend the rest of my career assisting other nations in improving the quality of indigent defense services. I am also interested in working with lawyers, judges, and politicians in improving the delivery of services in the justice system.
