Jordene Hale is the Technical Director for the Education and Youth Practice at Chemonics. Prior to Chemonics, Dr. Hale was chief of party for READ Monitoring and Evaluation (READ M&E) in Ethiopia with AIR. She has more than 27 years of experience in education with 14 years of monitoring, evaluation, research, and assessment work. In her current position, Dr. Hale conducts research, works to improve the learning culture, and provides technical assistance to the Chemonics community.
Dr. Hale has managed projects or conducted evaluations for USAID, USDOL, DoD, and DOS. Her range of experience, including classroom teacher, M&E team leader, a cultural expert in languages, and project COP. She has over two decades of working on development initiatives, including more than thirteen years working in African countries among other work in Asia and Central America. She has a strong background in language starting with her BA in socio-linguists and culminating in a doctorate dissertation which looked at what keeps girls in school.
