Joy Rebecca Batusa is a Development Programs Management specialist with over 20 years' experience in designing, planning and managing development programs. In her current role as Deputy Chief of Party for the USAID/Uganda Private Health Support Program implemented by Cardno Emerging Markets USA Limited, she is responsible for providing extensive programmatic and technical leadership for the USAID flagship private sector health program in Uganda. The Program seeks to contribute to establishing a more viable and cost-effective private sector option for health services in Uganda. She has vast experience with aspects of public health programs management. Her roles in senior Management positions for internationally funded projects including USAID, CDC and DFID requiring effective communication and engagement of communities, organisations and stakeholders in developing and implementing innovative approaches further cements her depth of knowledge in development management. Her achievements include setting up the first Health co-operative in Uganda. Her program management work at the Makerere College of Health Sciences' Infectious Diseases Institute included the design and management of capacity building interventions for Regional Referral Hospitals and the Kampala Capital City Authority directorate of Health. Joy attained a Master of Arts in Social Sector Planning and Management; and a Bachelors of Arts degree with Education from Makerere University as well as a Diploma in development studies from the Institute of Social Studies, Netherlands.
