I was born in Portugal, Ponte de Vagos in 1990, but it was in Praia de Mira
that I spent my childhood and I define it as "my" land.
At the age of 14, I went to Coimbra to attend the Coimbra Tourism and
Hospitality School, where I took the Cookery and Pastry course. My curiosity and
willingness to learn led me to work, simultaneously with my studies, in catering
and several hotels in the city, part-time.
I have Bachelor's Degree in Cookery and Food that I took at Estoril Higher
Institute for Tourism and Hotel Studies, Portugal, and I did a Master's Degree in
Hospitality Management at the School of Tourism and Maritime Technology in,
Leiria, Portugal. I took also an executive course in luxury management, at The
Hong Kong Polytechnic University, China.
In my career, you can highlight the professional experiences in some major
hotel groups such as Ritz Carlton in Tenerife, Hilton Group in Prague and Grupo
Pestana in São Tomé and Príncipe. My last stop in Portugal was as an Assistant
Operations Manager at Pestana Management in Lisbon.
In 2014 I come to Timor-Leste to organize and pre-open the Novo Turismo
Hotel in Dili as Executive Chef. With the growth of the project and given my
background and experience, I became Operations Manager of the hotel, a
position that I assumed until I was invited by the hotel owner to support the
group's new project in the Media sector as Sales Manager, position that I
assumed until the beginning of 2018.
Currently, I'm International Invited Professor at the National University of Timor-Leste.
In 2016, I launched my first cookbook, "Sabores da Lusofonia", with recipes
from various Portuguese-speaking countries, with a preface by Nobel Peace Prize
laureate José Ramos-Horta.
In 2018, I launched my new book, "Sabor de Timor," with recipes from
Timor-Leste to promote local ingredients and healthier food, with the preface of
President Xanana Gusmão. This book was the result of the cooking show which I
was the author and host on GMN Tv for a year.
My desire to develop my abilities has made me cross the world, interacting
with a variety of realities. I invested in my training and now it's time to take
another step in my career expanding my areas of expertise.
