Keywords: cultural diplomacy, policy, and international affairs, with a particular interest in cultural factors that involve DRM, disaster recovery, climate change, and complex scenarios such as conflict and post-conflict contexts. Seeking position combining previous work experience with technical skills that bridge the gap between academia and theory, and policy and practice.
My extensive work experience (5yrs+) includes business administration, including: tenderings and acquisitions; communications and marketing; fundraising; general administration; legal administration; office management; executive assistance. This includes a year working in international development preparing expert CVs and tenders for clients such as UNDP, EU, UK-DFID, the World Bank etc.
On the academic side, I am currently completing an MA at UCL in the Archaeology and Heritage of Egypt and the Middle East, with research interests focusing on the al-Mashriq region of the Middle East. I have a language certificate in beginner's Arabic (MSA), and will spend January through June 2020 revisiting my French on an intensive course. I have previously volunteered as a Research Assistant for the Endangered Archaeology in the Middle East and North Africa (EAMENA) project, and represented the UK as a Prime Minister's Global Fellow in China at the British Council.
This winter, I am representing the UK again as a project intern at ICCROM (an intergovernmental organisation borne under the auspices of UNESCO, based in Rome and specialising in cultural heritage conservation and protection). The internship has focused on a workshop on First Aid to Cultural Heritage in Times of Crisis (FAC), bringing together international expertise in cultural heritage, humanitarian aid, and disaster risk management, to implement a course that uses practical learning in combination with theoretical teaching to build capacity in disaster prevention and response, and climate change management. This has involved lectures, practical exercises, and group work on e.g.: cultural and value mapping techniques, and conflict analysis.
