Marcelo Aparecido Pelegrini (M’98 D’03), electrical engineer, graduated from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo in 1995; was awarded a Master’s Degree (1998) and a Doctorate in Engineering (2003) in the area of Power System by that same Institution. As Energy Specialist of CSPE (Comissão de Serviços Públicos de Energia), Dr. Pelegrini was responsible for the rural electric cooperatives regulation area of the entity from 2000 to 2002. In this period, he led the regularization process of rural electric cooperatives to the new regulatory environment. This process was the main subject of his Doctorate. Since 2002, he has been working in R&D projects to utilities in Brazil, in generation, transmission and distribution systems. Dr. Pelegrini is the author of more than 80 articles about rural electrification, energy trading, distribution systems planning, technical and economic regulatory issues and energy planning, which were presented in congress and published in specialized journals.
