As a graduate of The Elliott School of International Affairs (GW), Marisa double majored in Economics and International Affairs with a concentration on International Economics. She also pursued a minor in French Language & Literature. Through past coursework and job opportunities, Marisa has gained considerable experience in research, teamwork, and leadership. She first built a solid research base while working at RWR Advisory, a geopolitical consulting firm. While there, she was able to explore her interest in development through a financial lens. She continued this interest through her Economics Thesis which focused on the effect remittances had on financial inclusion among women in Mexico. She completed this project under the guidance of Dr. Manuel Orozco at the Inter-American Dialogue who then hired her as a Research Assistant to explore best practices in reintegration policies and programs for migrants. In addition to research, Marisa has also gained strong leadership and teamwork skills through her intense involvement with TEDxFoggyBottom as a Strategy Director. Under this position, she served as a team leader, managed and tracked an annual budget, and coordinated speaker logistics.
