Mayowa Adenola is a registered town-planner and land expert with over 6years of professional experience in Nigeria. His expertise spans physical development planning, housing planning and construction, land administration, information management for utility infrastructure, land and water resources for public and private sector organizations. Mr. Adenola has spent his career developing strong working relationships in Nigeria with government officials and stakeholders at local, state and federal levels. His efforts have focused on promoting the uptake of smart-city technology within the domains of town planning in Ondo State by pleading the political demand and support for smart infrastructure and land ownership as a means to improve service delivery and reduce the menace of lack of affordable housing.
As the lead consultant with RETAMBAT Ltd, he coordinated the design and development of a master-plan for the physical development of Federal Medical Centre, Owo in Ondo State, Nigeria. He carried out the role of developing the design concepts relative to the client's vision and the prevailing physical and social characteristics of the proposed site. He also worked to ensure the buy-in of all the stakeholders in adopting the best alternative design for the master-plan. He was also instrumental to the preparation of environmental impact assessment (EIA) for the proposed project and subsequently nominated to head the Environmental Impact Mitigation compliance committee.
Mayowa is a Town Planning Consultant with KOJU SPACES LTD where he recently facilitated the acquisition of 10 hectares of land in Sub-neighborhood of Akure for the development of housing for low- and middle-income earners. He was responsible for identifying the location most suitable for the project as well as representing the company in interfacing between government and the local land owners. The project has the potential of providing housing for about 150 households and further helping in reducing housing shortage in Akure City.
While he was serving as a National Youth Corps member with the Federal Ministry of Lands Housing and Urban Development, he was nominated to serve in the secretariat of the ministerial Committee for Housing and Urban Development which would later metamorphosize into the Presidential Team for Housing delivery in Nigeria. His role was to alongside other secretariat staff take minutes of the meetings of the committee and collate same. He also worked with other staff in preparing committee meetings and every other logistics.
His first employment was with the Federal University of Technology Minna, Nigeria where he was retained to work in the department of Urban and Regional Planning immediately after graduation. He was engaged to work with the department in reviewing the University's master-plan. In his role, he prepared a utility map for the university campus, and he also helped in digitizing the existing analogue maps of the university with ArcGIS software.
