Menzi Bhengu obtained his BSocSc Honours (Cum Laude) in Social Anthropology at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Howard campus. In addition, he holds a Bachelor of Social Science Degree in Cultural and Heritage Tourism, and Media and Cultural Studies (Cum Laude), also obtained from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
While pursuing his undergraduate at UKZN he obtained obtained the Deans Recommendation and achieved Merit Certificates for Philosophy of Religion, Public Relations, Tourism Policy, Planning and Development. Furthermore, he was invited to join the Golden Key International Society which is a society for the top 15% academic achievers at the University.
Menzi is currently enrolled at the University of Oxford reading for a Master of Science in Anthropology. However, he has recently completed a Masters at the School of Built Environment and Development Studies (SoBEDS) at the University of KwaZulu-Natal with a thesis titled; "Gender and the precariousness of producing and selling indigenous vegetables: A case study of farmers in Northern KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa" for which he obtained a First class pass, and was consequently awarded a Masters Degree in Development Studies.
