Michael Castellano is an experienced international development and project management professional. His areas of focus include human rights, diversity & inclusion, social development, and economic empowerment.
Michael is based in Washington, DC, where he has worked with various government agencies and international organizations. Currently, Michael serves as Associate Director, Strategic Partnerships for Heartland Alliance International. Prior to joining Heartland Alliance, Michael served as the Director for NGLCC Global at the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), where he acted as Chief of Party for a public-private partnership under USAID's LGBTI Global Development Partnership, empowering LGBTI people in emerging economies. Michael previously worked as an associate on a USAID rule of law project with Chemonics International and as an analyst at the U.S. Department of State.
A Virginia native, Michael earned his MA in International Affairs from The Elliott School of International Affairs at The George Washington University in Washington, DC and his BA in International Relations from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. In his spare time, Michael enjoys traveling, running, and playing tennis.
