Mohamed Maalim Dakane is a fifty three years old Trainer and humanitarian worker with SOS Health, protection and Nutrition program in Somalia since June, 2013 as Medical Director responsible for planning, budgeting, proposal development, implementation of quality health/nutrition/protection services, monitoring, evaluation & learning, human resource management, logistics, representing SOS in sector meetings and reporting. Key achievements: SOS Community health strategy design and implementation, PMTCT TOT, high standard of infection prevention and control, reliable and continuous supply of essential supplies and medicines, cohesive team to run the program, increased revenue collection, enhancement of investigative capacity of laboratory, outreach and home visits, capacity building of staff, review of SOS Nursing School curriculum, VCT and PMTCT services including delivery services for HIV positive pregnant women. Mohamed has Master of Science degree (Public Health) from Kenyatta University (2007), Higher Diploma in Epidemiology (Kenya Medical Training College) obtained in 1999 and Diploma in Clinical Medicine (1989). Formerly he worked as lecturer with KMTC between 1997- 2013 June in various capacities such as Deputy Principal, Head of Clinical Medicine Department, clinician, researcher and educationist. He has extensive work experience from the community to national level in the Ministry Of Health and Non-Governmental organizations for 27 years. His work involved managing high volume 124 bed hospital, experience with all levels of health sector, patient care and management, capacity building for district managers, training other health workers, coordination and supervision of clinical medicine training program, curriculum development and revision for clinical medicine program, logbook development for clinical officers both at diploma and graduate level. Since 2009- 2013, he has been a member of the Clinical Officers Council chairing the inspectorate committee, and a member of training committee that conducts pre- registration exams for graduates of Colleges/universities in Kenya and the region. As chairman of inspectorate committee he developed inspection tools for inspecting clinics. He has some knowledge of data analysis including SPSS and is proficient in other computer packages such as MS word, MS excel, internet and power point.
