With a wide range of national and international experience for about 15 years, along with a progressive track in transformational development, emergency relief and recovery programs, served as a Programme Manager in UNDP Sierra Leone. I have been a Natural Resources Management Advisor in DACAAR, Kabul Afghanistan. I have also served Food for the Hungry International - Ethiopia as a Programmes Development Coordinator; and World Vision International-Ethiopia in progressive positions (Area Development Program Delegate Manager; Senior Design, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer; and Senior Agricultural Programmes Facilitator). I have been a Junior Researcher in Ethiopian Agricultural Research Organization (Global Environmental Facilities Project). I have also served the Ministry of Agriculture, Ethiopia as an Agronomist and Irrigation Agronomist.
Across years, while working from village to international level settings, I developed strong experience in programs and financial management; capacity development; networking; policy and strategy; team management and coordination and partnership building. I have a proven skill in managing development and emergency relief projects of the UN, USAID (MYAP and OFDA), EU-ECHO, DANIDA, ICCO, CIDA, CFGB, AusAID, JICA, CCE-HIV/AIDS, etc. in stable and psychologically stressful hardship environments.
Besides, I am a winner of World Vision International / Ethiopia Country level Award of Excellence, for having outstanding performance in giving leadership as per the newly developed international programme planning. I am also commissioned as a Millennium Development Ambassador (international level award) by the Youth Millennium Development Ambassadors Initiative. I hold MSc in Tropical Land Resources Management and BSc in Dryland Agriculture.
I’m also certified for Prince 2.
I have authored different scientific publications on agribusiness, entrepreneurship, forestry, environment, biodiversity, ecosystems, protected areas, disaster management, climate related issues, team management, etc.
