Omoikhudu Amu is keen in supporting Energy and Power sector development in Nigeria using sustainable business and project management practices.
He started his career in the agricultural sector where he developed operating procedures and managed an international out-grower scheme as well as a nationwide raw material supply for an agro-based factory. He saw firsthand the impact of lack of power in developing the agricultural sector and unlocking Nigeria's development potentials.
Advancing his studies in environment, renewable energy development and energy studies at the University of Ibadan, Omo developed a keen interest in Nigeria's electricity sector. Omo understands that the power supply gap in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa will be closed by deploying clean technologies whilst using the abundant natural gas and other conventional resources in the Power sector.
His career in the energy industry started with Proton Energy as an intern supporting the development of its 150MW power plant, where he led the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment process up to international standards. Omo is directly involved in developing project plans and coordinating implementation, working with a team of professionals in developing power plant projects.
His in-depth understanding of the regulatory and market provisions in the power sector makes him a focal person in business development and strategy discussions. He has positioned himself as a growing expert in end-to-end gas-fired power plant development with a knowledge of the renewable energy trends and issues in the Nigeria market.
Omo is dedicated to process and cost optimization in all projects he works in.
