Experienced Public Health Professional with an MPH in Global Health from Harvard University. Mr. Zaqqout is specialized in humanitarian response, with a demonstrated history of working in emergency and disasters contexts; in Palestine, Syria, Jordan and Libya with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Rescue Committee (IRC). He served in several managerial and technical positions with the Palestinian Ministry of Health, such as the Head of Morbidity and Mortality Information Systems, Chief of Nursing Research & Development, and Director of Patients Services and Affairs at Al-Shifa Hospital. He is skilled in integrating evidence-based conclusions into practice, humanitarian logistics, strategic planning and design, health systems reform, health information systems and geospatial analysis in humanitarian response. Mr. Zaqqout uses interdisciplinary expertise to seek efficient and cost-effective ways of utilizing and mobilizing organizational resources before, during and after disasters or health emergencies. On December 2018, Mr. Zaqqout joined the Syrian American Medical Society Foundation to lead the Global and Emergency Response Unit in its headquarters in Washington D.C. His current portfolio include supervising SAMS country programs in Greece, Mexico, Bangladesh, Yemen and supporting Iraq mission. He was recently tasked by the board of directors to lead the development of SAMS Health Information Systems in collaboration with Hikma Health Group, Harvard University, MIT and the Center for Humanitarian Health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
