Summary

As Senior Economist of a regional UN Economic Commission and as senior researcher for academic institutions such as the University of Chile, I have dealt with structural issues that emerging and developing countries need to surpass, such as human capital, infrastructure, energy, sustainable growth, and the rule of law, while remaining cognizant of the need to address short term goals such as macroeconomic stability. I am a development economist by training with strong quantitative skills and a flair for economic and social policy issues in small economies. I have 28 years of professional and relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation of policies and programs, sectoral and policy analyses, impact evaluation methods and in providing technical assistance to governments in these areas. I also have a publication record in the areas of development economics and international economics contributing to several edited and peer-reviewed volumes and scholarly journals, including ECLAC Review, Latin American Business Review, Harvard Review of Latin America, Integration and Trade Journal.
