I have completed my PhD in Virology, having worked on the biological evaluation of an antiviral compound against measles virus.
My core areas of expertise include:
• Characterization of endocytic pathways with fluorescent probes, using both live and fixed-cell analysis by confocal laser scanning microscopy.
• Designing experiments to perform mode of action studies for antiviral compounds.
• Cell receptor-clustering assays using antibodies to replicate virus-host interactions in the absence of live virus infection.
• Designing of assays to evaluate antiviral activity of therapeutic macromolecules.
I am very much interested in contributing towards public health-related work which would enable me to apply my expertise in virology/cell biology for the overall well being of the society. My interest in public health is exemplified by the fact that I have assisted in sample collection and diagnostics of Influenza A(H1N1) during the 2009 flu pandemic. This was a part of the Govt. of Tamil Nadu initiative organized in the King Institute of Preventive Medicine & Research, Chennai (alma mater).
