A major challenge in monitoring and evaluation is obtaining results that are both fast and scientifically accurate. The Global Impact Collaboratory (GIC) is harnessing the depth and breadth of social science talent at Arizona State University, innovating to design and test methods in the rapid context of development work. The goal is to identify smarter, more cost-effective research methods that facilitate monitoring of whether communities understand and respond to projects in real time, and improve upon them so they make sense at the community level. This approach also yields high-quality data that, because it meets scientifically rigorous standards, furthers dissemination and learning through publication in the peer-reviewed literature.
