Ross Hopkins is the Principal of TRIP Consultants and is a recognized expert in tourism sector development. Ross has over 25 years experience in international tourism development and specialises in sector development in the Asia/Pacific region.
He has extensive experience in tourism sector planning, programme design and implementation as well as the monitoring and evaluation of tourism development projects.
Ross is an experienced Team Leader and has proven capacity building and institutional strengthening skills.
Ross has worked widely on projects for IFC/the World Bank, DFAT, New Zealand Aid Programme, European Union, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, UNDP, government tourism agencies in over 25 countries, as well as private sector investors.
Ross has recently led a number of regional and national level tourism sector development projects including the Pacific Tourism Strategy 2015 – 2019 (covering 18 countries), Samoa Tourism Sector Plan 2015 – 2019, Tonga Tourism Roadmap 2014 – 2018, Solomon Islands National Tourism Development Strategy 2015 – 2019; Ross has also recently supported work on the Vanuatu Strategic Tourism Action Plan 2015 – 2019 and developed a Master Plan for the Kokoda Track Initiative in Papua New Guinea (2015) .
Ross previously developed and supported the implementation of the Papua New Guinea Tourism Master Plan (2007) and has extensive experience in national and regional tourism sector plan implementation undertaken over the last 25 years as well as extensive experience in agritourism policy development (Vanuatu and Samoa) and climate change adaptation and mitigation projects (Fiji and Samoa with GIZ and UNDP).
