Md. Saimum Parvez is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Political Science and Sociology at North South University. Currently, he is on leave and pursuing his PhD in University of Sydney. His research interests include violent extremism, radical group formation, Internet and Politics. He completed MA in Global Communication program at Elliott School of International Affairs, Washington DC. It is his second Masters. He earned his first M.A. in International Relations from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2008. After completion of bachelor degree in International Relations, he joined at Banglavision - one of the prominent satellite television channels of Bangladesh in 2006. Saimum worked at Banglavision for three years. In 2009, he joined BBC World Service Trust as an assistant producer at Dhaka office. Saimum was producer of several short-films and documentaries.
In 2010, he joined University of Chittagong, Bangladesh as a lecturer in International Relations. He was also awarded Fulbright Foreign Scholarship for a two year M.A. program by the State Department of the U.S.A. in 2013. It helped him to pursue further higher study in George Washington University. In May 2015, he came back to Bangladesh after successfully completing his Fulbright program. In September 2015, he left Chittagong University and joined at his current position.
