I am an operations professional with over 10 years hands-on experience managing the procurement, contracting, logistics (transport), office and facilities, stores and assets and other allied administrative functions of both international multi-donor funded non-governmental/humanitarian organizations such as Jhpiego Corporation, UNDP Kenya, World Vision, Catholic Relief Services (CRS), and Care International as well as for leading private companies such as the Commercial Bank of Africa.
Working with the international humanitarian organizations has exposed and given me invaluable knowledge on organizations’ policies, donor and compliance requirements, a demanding multi-cultural environment that calls for flexibility, quick thinking and working under pressure, use of e-procurement systems, as well as best practices. This exposure has also equipped me with essential soft skills that include a keen eye on details, collaborative team work, effective communication, team management and leadership, people development, strategic planning and problem solving, risk management, negotiation, project management, critical thinking and decision making.
As a seasoned manager, I take a customer-centered approach to deliver value adding results and solutions that are innovative, practical and pragmatic, driven by a passion for excellence and upholding a high level of integrity. I maintain an open-mind flexible and adaptive continuous learning spirit and have undertaken trainings in strategic management, leadership and project management.
Managing teams has over the years equipped me with good supervisory, motivation and dispute resolution skills and I am well versed with staff performance objectives setting, reviews/appraisals and feedback management systems. My experience as a secondary school teacher further enhances people and training skills.
