Ercília Mata Ubisse is a Development Specialist and New Business Development Manager whose client experience includes the World Bank Group, the African Development Bank, UK Department for International Development, the European Commission, USAID, host country governments and a number of private sector corporate entities.
Currently the Business Development Manager for Genesis Analytics in South Africa, leading the company’s new business partnerships with multi- and bilateral donors, private and public sector across five technical practice areas spanning the technical areas of Agriculture, Finance, Infrastructure, Regulatory and M&E.
Ercília was previously head of New Business Development for a Mozambican consulting firm, ELIM Serviços Lda (www.elimservicos.com), and before that was the Country Manager for DAI’s (www.dai.com) Mozambican branch office with technical focus in areas including Sustainable Tourism Development, Economic Growth, Agribusiness and Governance. Her role was supported by her experience in the country, as well as her good relationships with key players in the Mozambican development arena at public, private and donor level developed over the years.
In addition to handling the operational management of the office and its staff, Ercília also led DAI Johannesburg’s New Business Development for Mozambique, participating in strategic marketing activities such as market analysis and business development including partnership development, opportunity pre-positioning and budgeting, and market reconnaissance with clients including the UK Department for International Development, the U.S. Agency for International Development, the European Commission in Mozambique, and the World Bank Group. Ms Mata was instrumental in the development and implementation of DAI Johannesburg’s New Business strategy for Mozambique, having also developed the company’s initial strategy for market development, and actively participated in the preparation of the proposals for all five of DAI’s current long term projects in Mozambique.
Prior to her position in Mozambique, Ercília was based in the DAI Johannesburg Head Office where she provided project management and technical assistance in a variety of tourism and enterprise development projects. Ercília has been engaged in the management and implementation of research projects, both from a demand and a supply perspective, having coordinated research projects both in and out of the field in South Africa, Mozambique and Cape Verde.
