In my work in using communication for development and social change, I've focused on disaster risk reduction, climate change and working with marginalized communities (women, children, youth, Indigenous Peoples, ethnic minorities).
I’ve been privileged to work alongside people from around the world as they craft and share their own stories through film, photography, social media, print, and other mediums as a way to shift power, transform lives, and influence change. I've also worked in the areas related to the SDGs, community and youth engagement, and resilience.
My strength is in communication (esp. report development and writing) and developing, facilitating, and supporting communication for social change projects that fit the local context, culture, and vision for change.
I’ve worked 25+ years as an international development consultant, university lecturer, multimedia producer, filmmaker, and researcher; and am currently working with UNICEF on a Words into Action guide on Children and Youth Contributions to Reducing Disaster Risk and Enhancing Resilience.
My career has taken me around the world with UNICEF, CARE, ActionAid, Plan International, Save the Children, Sonke Gender Justice, the Institute of Development, and more in Cambodia, Canada, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Kenya, Mozambique, Nepal, South Africa, Tanzania and Vietnam. I also have more than 10 years’ experience as a video and multimedia producer, writer, and director in Seattle, USA.
I look forward to new exploring new ventures together.
