After university served in a rural area of India with Peace Corps. Then joined Catholic Relief in Indonesia, followed by CARE in Bangladesh. Joined UNICEF in 1973 serving in many posts in Africa, Middle East and Asia. Was UNICEF Special Representative in former Yugoslavia through the Bosnian War 1992 - 1998, then Global HR Director in NY, and finally as Regional Director for MENA. After retirement took short term assignments in Pakistan, Somalia, Tajikistan, and UNFPA. Currently Chief Editor XUNICEF.
