I have extensive experience designing and building physics experiments. I have a broad knowledge of general physics and can offer a skill set bridging that of both a physicist and an engineer – solid theoretical understanding with a practical mindset. I enjoy teamwork, and like to be involved all the way from brainstorm to the final tests.
I have worked with many surface fabrication methods (EBL, NIL, Self-assembly by annealing, Magnetron Sputtering, metal evaporation, eching, UV lithography, MBE) and surface analysis methods (SEM, AFM, RBS, Profilometer), as well as with optical and electrical characterization of surface and bulk material properties.
I have years of experience with technical drawing and metal machining. This includes: steel, aluminium, brass, aluminium oxide (alumina), Teflon, PVC, along with a good understanding of different material’s strengths and weaknesses.
I have several years of experience with programming in Matlab for analysis and simulation purposes and can quickly adapt to a new programming language when this is required.
Apart from managing my PhD project, I have also been managing a developing project in Africa. I was responsible for the successful realization of a 35kWp off-grid solar power system at a hospital in Sierra Leone.
I am a practical person and I enjoy using my hands and test my own limits. I have built my own house, and spend my free time fiddling with everything from carpentry and motorcycles to microelectronics. I am also a social person who likes to joke and laugh with my co-workers.
