Tim E.

Germany

Summary

As a security and risk analyst, I seek to synthesize my academic and professional experience in the fields of security and economic governance. I hold a BA in International Relations from the University of Groningen and an MSc (Distinction) in African Studies from the University of Oxford. Most recently, I worked as a Carlo-Schmid-Fellow with the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations in New York. My research interests include peace operations, security governance as well as international political economy. Regionally, my work focuses on Sub-Saharan Africa. In the spring of 2017, I conducted a field study in Liberia, examining the determinants of peace committee effectiveness and the unintended consequences of the drawdown of the United Nations Mission in Liberia. I am a member of the OxPeace Network's steering committee and I volunteer in a working group on refuge and asylum that facilitates youth exchanges and summer camps with refugees in Germany. Previously, I gained work experience in the private sector both as an entrepreneur and as an intern. In 2010, I co-founded a small web design agency which I directed for three years. Most recently, I worked as a university tutor at Capita Selecta and with the Global Public Policy Institute as a Peace and Security Research Intern.
