I am a highly motivated and passionate registered mental health nurse professional. My work ethics is underpinned by discipline, commitment, problem solving, solution focused and innovation. My experiences include working with people as a mental health nurse practitioner in the National Health Services and the private health care sectors in the UK. I work with people with mental and physical illnesses, supporting them to achieve recovery, to gain independence, and to reintegrate them into the community. My patients/clients include people with organic and drug induced mental illness, people with comorbidity of substance misuse, personality disorder, psychosis, maternal depression, clinical depression, PTSD,HIV/AIDS and identity crisis. I am proficient in mental health assessments, medication management/administering, care planning, intravenous and subcutaneous injections, risk assessment/management, ward, shift and staff management. Competent in psychosocial and pharmacological interventions and crises intervention techniques such as CBT, IPT, counselling, family therapy, guided self-help, and psycho-education groups.
As a facilitator with USAID and other international NGOs in Nigeria, I worked with people living with HIV/AIDS, orphaned and vulnerable children, maternal health, young and adolescent health in Northern Nigeria. I was actively involved in the area of health program implementation, policy formulation, information gathering and data analysis for research, monitoring and evaluation of field projects. Experiences include system strengthening, stakeholders management, health promotion, health education and mapping, capacity building, training the trainers, leadership and role modelling.
