Summary

What did I do? Coordinated and presented programs on emergency response health and nutrition to include IYCF in Kenya; Raja, South Sudan; Merti, Somalia; Maiduguri in Borno State, Nigeria. Furthermore, this position, which relates strongly to my experience in managing stress, mental health and psychosocial support, psychological first aid and community engagement and community resilience. So what? Identified mental health and psychosocial needs and established a referral pathway to ICRC and IOM and hence the problem was solved What did I do? Implemented a mother MUAC and with support of UNICEF through a PCA(in kind and funds) opened established two stabilization centers in Baggari, Wau to respond and offer life saving interventions to the community in Greater Baggari. So what? Re-organized two stabilization Centre’s to make it work better and avoid inter clan feud. In ALIMA, established a 24/7 inpatient therapeutic feeding Centre (ITFC) in Nguissa and this improved the severely malnourished children prognosis. Hence working on this special project through launching mother MUAC and through discussion with nutrition sector established an expanded criteria to identify malnourished children (moderate and severe with complications), a strategy that improved case management, average length of stay and utilization of RUTF.
