Emergency Humanitarian Aid for the Fight against the Cholera Epidemic in Chad

The objective of the project is to contribute to the elimination of cholera in Chad through improving case management of cholera through the availability of essential drugs, medical equipment, training/retraining of medical personnel, support deployment of additional medical staff; reducing the transmission by improving sanitation and access to safe drinking water in cholera treatment centers and community level; reducing transmission through improved awareness to change behavior of the population at risk; and improving the supervision, monitoring and evaluation.
To this end, the project will have the following components:
Component 1: Acquisition of Drugs, Consumables and Equipment Component 2: Technical Assistance and Logistics Component 3: Strengthening the System of Epidemiological Monitoring
 
The total budget for this project is approximately US$917,944 to be funded by the African Development Bank (AFDB). The World Health Organization Regional Office for Africa will be the implementing agency for this project.
