The KPT has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the “Karachi Improvement Project (KPIP)” and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consultant services. The services include: Preparation of ten years Business Plan and Strategic Development Plan” This study demands an experienced International Consultancy firms to prepare a comprehensive business plan and strategic developments plan re-defining the KPT’s business structure projected to short, medium, and long terms requirements. The study will focus on (a) definition of future orientation of KPT as an institution and (b) definition of physical development of assets and territorial management. Both themes will be developed as a part of corporate business plan for KPT covering all present potential and future activities to coverage strategic development plan. The consultant will help to identify the port business and make recommendation on effective exploitation of non-core area such as land management etc. The plan will also cover capital investment requirements for development of infrastructure facilities; efficiency enhancement of shipping and cargo handling operations; shore-side transport and logistics; career planning and training for human resource development; modern concepts for land management; provision of IT based management and operations and port users’ representation in policy decisions.

This study demands an experienced International Consultancy firms to prepare a comprehensive business plan and strategic developments plan re-defining the KPT’s business structure projected to short, medium, and long terms requirements. The KPT now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services:

  • Brochures/ Copy profile
  • Application status (JV in association & leading consultant etc)
  • Description of similar assignments.
  • Experience in similar conditions.
  • Availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.
  • Consultation may associate to enhance their qualification.

    A Consulting firm shall be selected in an accordance with the procedure set out in the World Bank’s Procurement Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers, May 2004, revised 1st. October, 2006 and 1st May 2010” using the Quality and Cost Based Selection (QCBS) methods. Expression of interest must be delivered in duplicate at the address given below July 12, 2011 at 16.00 hours.
