Job Description

The Academy for Educational Development (AED) is an independent, international nonprofit organization committed to solving critical social problems. Founded in 1961, AED’s major areas of focus include public health and HIV/AIDS, education, civil society development, and environment. AED’s Center on AIDS and Community Health (COACH) seeks international consultants interested in both long- and short-term assignments who have expertise in a number of HIV/AIDS topic areas. Areas of expertise sought include:

o Clinicians with global HIV treatment experience o Technical assistance in the full spectrum of HIV/AIDS interventions and services, including prevention, testing, care & support, and treatment o Behavior change communications (BCC) and social marketing o Work with orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) o Service delivery – STI, VCT, PMTCT, ARV, HIV/AIDS and TB o Policy advocacy o Workplace programs and public/private partnerships o HIV/AIDS and broader health institution development and capacity building o Training curriculum design and implementation, training-of-trainers (TOT) o Participatory planning and community mobilization

Qualifications include a minimum of five years professional international experience in developing country settings, advanced academic degrees in the practice area, knowledge of one or more foreign languages, ability to prepare well written reports in English, familiarity with US government rules and regulations, and computer literacy.
