The OETP Intern will work under the supervision of the Director of the Office of Emergency and Transition Programs (OETP) of CHF International for approximately 20 hours per week for 16 weeks, with the possibility of extending the internship through the summer. The main objectives of this position are to 1) collect and consolidate tools, resources, success stories, and guidelines on OETP focus areas and current disaster management programs; and 2) create a skills-based database to be used by OETP staff when responding to natural and complex emergencies to identify potential people to assist in the response. The intern will work on other related projects as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Collect and consolidate tools, resources, and best practices on emergency response and disaster mitigation activities.
Work with OETP staff to establish emergency response protocols and tools for OETP and field offices.
Assist OETP staff in conducting internal reviews on emergency response programs and OETP focus areas to survey field offices? approach to disaster response programming and program results.
Collect and disseminate success stories and lessons learned in emergency response and other OETP focus areas.
Work with OETP staff to create and maintain an Access database to organize current staff and consultants by a variety of fields.
Work with OOP and designated OGO staff to identify appropriate external consultants, regional and local field staff to include in database.

QUALIFICATIONS Graduate student enrolled in an international affairs, international development or related program.
Experience or interest in humanitarian assistance programming and/or disaster mitigation in an international setting.
Substantial knowledge of Microsoft office applications, including Access.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Currently enrolled in a graduate program focusing on international development or related field.
LANGUAGE SKILLS English fluency required; Must be able to read and interpret documents, communicate with others as necessary to perform job duties effectively; Knowledge of other foreign languages a plus.
