Functional responsibilities
Under the supervision of the UNOPS Project Manager and in close collaboration with IAH, the Information Management Specialist will perform the following key functions:
1. Business Analysis & Digital Solution Support
- Collaborate with business units to understand operational challenges, gather and document functional requirements, and identify opportunities for process optimization or automation.
- Conduct business process mapping and gap analysis to support the design and improvement of digital tools and workflows.
- Document and design data and workflow diagrams.
- Lead stakeholder consultations, workshops, user testing, and validation sessions to ensure shared understanding and alignment between business needs and technical solutions.
- Develop and refine the solution roadmaps and backlogs, ensuring features meet functional requirements and user expectations.
- Provide second-level functional support for business systems and platforms developed or maintained by IAH, and contribute to issue resolution in collaboration with technical teams.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation for business processes, user requirements, and system features for reference, training, and continuous improvement.
2. Data Analysis and Insight Generation
- Analyze structured and unstructured data from various internal and external sources to support reporting and analysis needs.
- Develop data visualizations, dashboards, and metrics to monitor programmatic and operational performance using tools like Power BI or Microsoft Fabric.
- Coordinate the data integration, data governance, and data quality initiatives across business units.
3. Capacity Building & Change Support
- Develop training materials, user guides, and support documentation to promote adoption of digital tools and systems.
- Deliver live or virtual training sessions and provide coaching to internal teams on business and data tools.
- Contribute to organizational change management efforts through communications, demos, and feedback loops.
Education/Experience/Language requirements
1. Education
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) preferably in business administration, data science, information systems, computer science, analytics, or in a field related to the post description with five (5) years of relevant experience is required; OR
- A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) preferably in business administration, data science, information systems, computer science, analytics, or in a field related to the post description with seven (7) years of relevant experience.
2. Work Experience
Required:
- Relevant experience is defined as experience in business analysis, data analytics, digital transformation, or related fields.
- Experience with business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is required;
- Experience with data collection systems, data preparation, modelling, and/or visualization is required.
Desirable:
- Experience with SQL, Python, or other data analysis/programming languages is desirable.
- Experience with data visualization and geospatial analysis.
- Familiarity with digital product development, agile methodologies, or human-centered design is an asset.
- Experience working with or within the UN system or similar international organization is desirable.
3. Language
- Fluency in English (read, write, speak) is required.
- Knowledge of French is desirable.
- Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
