Job Description

Rapidly growing international health organization -CMMB- seeks a public health grant writer/technical specialist to assist the Director of Grants Acquisition and Management (GAM) with the development and preparation of grant proposals and projects. The position is full-time and will likely include 20-25% overseas travel depending on the candidate's experience/skills. Position will directly support growing portfolios in Kenya, South Africa, Zambia, Southern Sudan, Haiti and Peru. Areas of focus will likely be HIV/AIDS treatment and support, PMTCT, maternal health, male circumcision (related to HIV prevention), malaria prevention and control, child survival, and neglected and tropical disease management.

The Grant writer will be working in close concert with Field leadership and staff on a proposal process-managing a timeline, ensuring the inputs of different parties are included in drafts, facilitating partnerships, prompting staffing/recruitment decisions and facilitating regular updates and periodic meetings on proposals in development. In 2009 alone, CMMB's GAM Team raised between $11 and $13 million USD in newly won awards.

The successful candidate will have public health expertise (MPH or equivalent), outstanding writing and editing skills, demonstrated USG proposal development experience (USAID or CDC), ability to function as team player for Field-based program development/design, and U.S. government grants management and reporting experience preferred. The position is based in Washington, DC and reports to the Director for the Grants Acquisition and Management.
