Local Consultant supporting the evaluation of the Promotion of Anti-corruption in Ethiopia
Corruption is one of the biggest obstacles for sustainable social, political and economic development.The international community has responded to the necessity of preventing and reducing corruption since the 1990s. Also, the German government recognizes the need for an overall approach to promote anti-corruption efforts across the globe and curb corruption. The German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Developmnent (BMZ) aims to implement anti-corruption and integrity as principles across all development cooperation efforts. The evaluation assesses to which degree the BMZ‘s approach to curb corruption is appropriate and suitable to contribute to the prevention and reduction of corruption as a development obstacle. As part of the evaluation, DEval will conduct a case study in Ethiopia and is looking for a Local Consultant to prepare, implement, and follow up on the case study. As described in the ToR, tasks will include literature/ document review and participation in onboarding-workshop; reparation of field visit; data collection; documentation of the interviews; data analysis and reflection, as well as logistics. The assignment includes an honorarium for up to 24 days, as well as travel expenses.
About DEval
The German Institute for Development Evaluation (DEval) was founded in 2012 and is based in Bonn. The institute is organized as a German non-profit institution with limited liability (German Limited Liability Companies Act, GmbH). Its sole shareholder is the German Federal Government, represented by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The main task of DEval is the independent analysis and assessment (evaluation) of German development cooperation interventions. Additional tasks include the development of appropriate methods and standards, providing qualification measures, as well as supporting evaluation capacity building in the partner countries for German development cooperation. The institute thereby engages in various national and international forms of cooperation.
