Where does ODA go?

About the report

Official development assistance remains the main source of development funding - $251.5 billion of it was distributed in 2022, according to OECD data. But where does all this money go?

Devex analysts have dug into the data to break down who's spending ODA, and what it's being spent on. We take a look at the different spending habits of members of the OECD's Development Assistance Committee — the club of official donors — and non-DAC donors; which countries receive the most ODA per capita and which are overlooked; and how the war in Ukraine has impacted ODA. Plus, we look in detail at each of the "Big 6" donors: the United States, Germany, the EU institutions, Japan, France, and the United Kingdom.
