Job Description

The HHISP is an Australian Government AusAID funded project that supports the implementation of the Health and HIV programs on behalf of AusAID and GoPNG, with its overarching objectives being to improve maternal and child health outcomes and deliver increased health and HIV services to the rural majority and high risk populations in support of the Partnership for Development Outcomes. The project is managed by Abt JTA in association with the Burnet Institute.

An opportunity has become available for a School Projects Management Adviser to join the HHISP Program working within the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS).

Supporting the Executive Dean of the SMHS, Policy, Planning and Administration, UPNG, this key position will provide high-level project management support to the SMHS Executive with the objective of strengthening effective governance, planning, budgeting, and M&E systems for the Health Education and Clinical Services program (HECS) in line with the HECS Phase II design.

With the new phase of the HECS program expected to commence in mid-2013, the role of this Adviser will include supporting commencement accordingly.

The successful candidate will bring a minimum of 5 years’ management experience in large-scale institutions to the role and will have extensive experience in planning, budgeting, financial management and monitoring and evaluation. Demonstrated knowledge within the education sector, as well as prior working experience within a development country context, will be a distinct advantage.

The expected mobilisation date for this role will be July 2013.
