International Relief and Development, Inc. (IRD) is seeking sector experts for an upcoming USAID-funded economic growth program in Iraq which will focus on private-sector led growth in Baghdad and other Iraqi cities.
IRD is seeking sector leaders with expertise in one or more of the following industries:
• Cement • Plastics • Information and Communications Technology (ICT) • Tourism • Construction • Pharmaceuticals • Media • Ceramics and glass • Transportation
The sector leader positions are long-term resident positions.
Sector Leader candidates should have a background in one or more of the following: business training and technical assistance in areas such as basic business skills, business plans, financial analysis and reporting, operations management, business processes, insurance products and risk management, warehouse receipts financing, cost/benefit analysis, marketing, supply chain management, contract management, project management, and proposal preparation. Candidates may also have experience in creating market studies, association support, promotion of association advocacy, creating enabling environments, and establishing public-private partnerships.
Additional Requirements:
• 5 or more years of experience in sector-specific activities such as those outlined above; • Experience managing value-chain or other economic growth projects; • Prior experience with USAID or other donor-funded projects a plus; • Experience in the Middle East (ideally in Iraq) preferred; • Arabic language ability preferred; • Experience in post-conflict environments preferred.
