    Gates Foundation goes Mesoamerica

Mesoamerica is the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s first big health project in Latin America with the Inter-American Development Bank and partners that include the Carlos Slim Foundation, a newbie itself. Devex learns more from Gary Darmstadt, director of family health.

    By Rolf Rosenkranz // 20 August 2013

It’s the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s first big health project in Latin America with the Inter-American Development Bank and partners that include the Carlos Slim Foundation, which itself is making its first foray into large-scale public-private partnerships with Mesoamerica.

Why is the Gates Foundation in Latin America, and what are its goals in Mesoamerica?

Devex asked Gary Darmstadt, director of family health and a key player in the region, at the IDB’s 2013 gathering in Panama City.
