International Center for Research on Women (ICRW)
Anchored in the principle of human dignity, International Center for Research on Women (ICRW) advances gender equity, social inclusion and shared prosperity. For 45 years, the ICRW has been the world’s leading nonprofit building evidence for how to improve the lives of women and girls. Our work uncovers the intersections of vulnerability and inequity that diminish opportunity for the most vulnerable and documents proven solutions that create and sustain equity. Our research, advocacy and programs focus on the intersections of education and positive youth development, sexual and reproductive health and rights, and sustainable livelihoods and equitable workplaces. Gender-based violence is considered as a factor in everything we do, and we are currently keeping COVID19 impact and recovery in the frame of all our work. We are committed to understanding how gender plays out in each of these areas, and how these interact with each other and with key aspects of a person’s identity, to shape discrimination, privilege and access to key social services and opportunities. We know that addressing multiple areas of experience and multiple domains of intervention, will deliver greater impact toward equity.
ICRW has three regional hubs: U.S. (Washington, DC), Asia (New Delhi) and Africa (Nairobi and Kampala). ICRW is registered as a ANBI in the Netherlands and a Charitable Incorporated Organization in the UK. Our partners and clients include community-based and nongovernmental organizations; bilateral and multilateral agencies; foundations, philanthropists and corporations; governments; and academic and financial institutions.
