As Meralco takes on a new strategic direction in its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) thrusts - a blueprint that aligns its CSR initiatives with its core business of power distribution and evolving into a total energy solutions company – Meralco also renews its commitment to innovation and the sustainability of its social investments. Stemming from the corporate values of malasakit and makabayan, Meralco commits to be the solid partner of the Filipinos in its collective pursuit of providing better lives and ultimately, building the nation.
This vision is lived out through the One Meralco Foundation, Inc. – Meralco’s new corporate foundation launched last July 2011 which integrates all the CSR and sustainability initiatives of the Meralco Group.
The One Meralco Foundation is an accredited donee institution in the Philippines registered through the Philippine Council for NGO Certification and a member of the League of Corporate Foundations.
One Meralco Foundation provides opportunities for the Meralco Group stakeholders - shareholders, employees and business partners to help advance the lives of communities where our business operates through strategic, meaningful and sustainable corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs.
Our Programs
One Meralco Foundation represents transformation and a re-energized approach on CSR and sustainability, rallying employees of Meralco and its Subsidiaries and Affiliates, business and government partners to carry out long-term and sustainable programs through four areas:
Community electrification - The program develops feasible electrification alternatives through workable socialized schemes for various community beneficiaries.
Grassroots partnerships - One Meralco Foundation continues its commitment towards strong partnerships with local government and barangays by providing appropriate support for certain local community needs such as health, sanitation, environmental protection, sports and education. Through these partnerships, the Foundation is able to nurture public safety, promote responsible stewardship among residents and spur growth and development in communities.
Youth and advocacy sports - One Meralco Foundation believes in the capabilities of today's youth as they take on the challenge of being future leaders of society. By enjoining the youth through programs rooted in academic excellence, sports engagement and values formation, the Foundation hope to make the youth self-sufficient as they reach their full potential as persons and be productive citizens of the country.
Emergency preparedness and disaster responses - One Meralco Foundation lends its experience and resources in emergency and disaster preparedness to support other utilities and communities. This sharing of expertise and resources aims to further harness response to major emergency situations, natural calamities and disasters.
Employee volunteerism - One Meralco Foundation engages employees of the Meralco Group to have a hand in nation-building by opening opportunities to these individuals to volunteer through the Makabayan Volunteerism Program (MVP). The program which aims to make volunteerism opportunities move from transactional to transformational, gives avenues for Meralco employees to extend assistance to their less fortunate fellowmen embodying the corporate values of malasakit and makabayan. At present, the Foundation has engaged over 4,000 Meralco employees under the program making a meaningful contribution to many communities where our CSR programs were implemented.
