Description

2026 Summer Intern, Climate Center

ICF supports government and private-sector clients in their efforts to transition to a low-emission future and become more resilient to the impacts of climate change. We develop emissions inventories and carbon footprints, conduct greenhouse gas mitigation policy analyses, assess climate risk, create climate action and resilience plans, and more.

The Energy and Climate Planning line of business at ICF provides comprehensive consulting services and solutions to public, private, and international clients. Our work includes targeted climate action planning, climate risk assessments, decarbonization and clean energy strategies, advanced data analytics, and stakeholder engagement to help organizations navigate the transition to a low-carbon, resilient future. The ICF Climate Center is ICF’s thought leadership hub, offering compelling research and unique insights to help organizations establish clear, practical pathways forward by combining climate science, predictive analytics, and deep engagement.

Climate Center interns will gain experience across both groups by supporting our regular staff on client-focused projects and collaborating with their cohort to contribute to a shared ICF Climate Center Flagship Report. You will learn about the latest topics in climate change mitigation, climate risk assessment, and climate resilience, as well as cutting-edge solutions for implementing climate action. Additionally, you will gain valuable insights into the field of consulting, including working on small group projects to meet the needs of a client or the Climate Center.

This is a full-time, 10-week, entry level internship position that begins in June and ends in August 2026. The internship can be remote from anywhere in the United States. At this time, we are unable to provide relocation nor housing assistance. Pay is expected to be $23 per hour.

  • Perform quantitative problem-solving, data collection, and analysis.
  • Review literature, conduct research, and synthesize findings into summaries and reports for both technical and general audiences.
  • Translate technical climate science and risk management topics into terms that are meaningful to general audiences.
  • Provide logistical and planning support for meetings, workshops, and webinars.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Candidate must be a US citizen, reside in the U.S., be authorized to work in the U.S., and all work must be performed in the U.S. per contract requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:
