Job Description

For Doha Metro PMC Red Line, Egis Rail is looking for a Systems Assurance Engineer. The broad description of the Systems Assurance Engineer is to assist the Systems Assurance Manager on Requirement Management for a civil work package including Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing (MEP) works on a Railway project.

Duration for this position: 12 months since 1st April 2013

Profile:
Education/Degree: Engineering degree or comparable Technical Bachelor’s degree with a bias toward Electro-Mechanical
Years of experience: Minimum 5 years’ experience in design and interface issues regarding Railway systems and MEP within a Metro Rail system

Specific Responsabilities:
Under the Systems Assurance Manager supervision, he shall have an advisory and approval role on technical issues related to:
• Analyse evidence provided by the contractor and compliance checking with Employer Requirement.
• Interface Management
He will be responsible of the followings:
• Preparing reports and presentations as needed
• Attends meetings as needed.
RAMS and Data base (Door) experience is also considered necessary.

Skills/Competencies:
• International Experience (Middle-East) of working in Engineering Management Firm or in a construction site environment
• Excellent oral and written English language
• Qualified professional working under limited supervision capable of performing general technical works and manages projects or tasks of moderate complexity.

Other requirements:
• Strong Communication (written and oral) skills
• Computer Proficiency (MS Excel, MS Word and Power Point)

Context:
Doha, main city of Qatar, is being developed with major infrastructure. Combining Emir’s will, government support and on-going FIFA 2022 project, Qatar expands stadium, roads, accommodation, hotels and railways projects in the whole country, focusing on Doha.

Qatar Railway Network: A fully integrated railway network is planned up to 2030, among which the new world-class Doha Metro as part of structural development for the city. Main milestone is set with World Football Cup, for which the Metro will handle world-wide supporters and visitors.

Metro network is planned over 3 phases with 342 km in 2030.

First phase should allow Metro starting operation in 2018. This phase will complete underground works for 4 lines linking heart of city, airport, stadiums and business center:
- Red Line underground section: 27km, 10 stations
- Gold Line underground section: 8 km, 5 stations
- Blue Line underground section: 2km, 0 stations
- Green Line underground section: 10km, 4 stations

Two major stations are specifically designed: Mushaireb as main hub of the city where 3 lines are crossing - red / gold / green - and Education City as future High Speed Railway station.

All 4 lines will be expanded in later phases, phase 2 and phase 3. The Client is Qatar Railways Company.

Project:
June 2012, Egis Rail have been awarded with Project Management contract for civil works of 2 out of 5 packages being tendered:
- #3: underground sections of Gold Line (east to west of Doha city, connected to airport) and Blue Line together 10km, 5 stations.
- #5: 2 major stations, Musheireb and Education City

Services to be provided is tender process of D&B contractor, design check and site supervision (cost, time and quality control). Contractual duration of services is 48 months, could be extended to meet contractor’s commitment of 78 months.
