JOB SUMMARY
The ABA Rule of Law Initiative seeks a Media & Communications Consultant for its program focusing on raising Syrian refugees’ awareness on their rights and obligations in Turkey.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Working closely with ABA ROLI and partners:
- Assess and evaluate existing communications capacity and needs;
- Develop and operationalize a realistic communications and dissemination plan;
- Work in close cooperation with media (press, radio, TV), social media and media production companies to design new communications programs to support information dissemination and identify new channels of dissemination;
- Monitor the production process and ensure the timeliness, quality and accuracy of the communication programs produced by selected media outlets;
- Other duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in social science, marketing, journalism, international affairs or communications, or other related field;
- 3+ years’ experience working on media or digital marketing for a global company, publishing outlet, or NGO;
- Familiar with Arabic speaking media outlets present in Turkey;
- Adept at using a wide range of social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Instagram, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Pinterest;
- Strong awareness of social media and communication behaviors in the MENA region.
- Experience of capacity building and training a plus;
- Experience in working for the UN, UNICEF or with International NGOs or global organizations on public awareness campaigns a plus;
- Must have excellent command of English and Arabic;
- Travel within Turkey required (Istanbul and Gaziantep);
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; and
- Creativity and flexibility.
