About us:

The Kiribati Facility is a key investment of the Australian government in Kiribati, comprising of the Skills for Employment Program (SfEP) and the Flexible Support Facility (FSF). The SfEP will support the development of a capable, qualified and mobile I-Kiribati workforce, and consolidate progress already made through the past investment in skills development in Kiribati.

SfEP will focus on developing the Kiribati Institute of Technology (KIT) as a demand-driven training provider catering for domestic, regional and international labour markets and aligning the source, level and rigour of qualifications accordingly.

About the opportunity:

The Academic Services Advisor (ASA) will play a key role on the Kiribati Facility, and will be responsible for design, delivery and sustainability of KIT courses and related training services. Specifically, the ASA will ensure planning and delivery of course profiles that are aligned with skill development priorities in demand driven sectors.

  • Location: Tarawa, Kiribati
  • Contract type: Long Term Adviser, ARF C3 until 15 March 2020

About you:
  • Relevant degree in education and/or management, with a minimum 10 years professional experience in a VET institute
  • Extensive experience as a college/institute/RTO manager – ideally you will have managed a department or vocational stream
  • Knowledge of and experience in the VET sector in the Pacific region
  • Knowledge and effective management experience with Australian and regional VET quality assurance and qualifications frameworks
  • Knowledge and understanding of the principles of international development, capacity development, gender equality, disability inclusion and their applicability with different contexts and environments
  • High level interpersonal and relationship skills, including the ability to build and maintain networks and a commitment to a shared vision between stakeholders in a variety of roles across the education and training sector in Kiribati, and regionally
  • Experience in developing, monitoring, reporting and analysing budgets, financial documentation and program/project KPIs
  • Accredited First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain prior to employment
