Job Description

Primary Objective/Position Summary

The AP Accountant is a member of the Finance Team and the primary responsibilities include:

  • Review subcontractor invoices, consultant invoices and employee expense reports to assure that all expenses are supported with proper receipts and adhere to both Federal Acquisition Regulations and company policies.
  • Process accounts payable requests and employee expense reports, assuring that all submitted payment requests have been approved, coded correctly, amounts are accurate and all supporting documents including backups are attached.
  • Review and reconcile all charges to the corporate credit card to ensure receipts and backup support are obtained ensuring allowability and proper coding.
  • Reconcile the travel advance accounts for employees on a monthly basis.
  • Book all automated debits to the corporate bank account for recurring monthly charges such as bank fees, FSA, etc.
  • Work with project managers to identify and resolve any discrepancies relating to subcontractor cost and vendor invoices.
  • Assist in managing vendor relationships and process and assess contract terms to ensure timely and accurate payments.
  • Review aged accounts payable report weekly to assure all payments are up to date.
  • Work with Project Accountants/Billers to assure customer payments have been received in order to process payment to subcontractors.
  • Prepare the yearly 1099-Misc submission to vendors/Consultants.
  • Reconcile vendor statements as well as research and correct discrepancies.
  • Participate in pulling testing for audits including DCAA and Cardno’s external annual audits to ensure clean and timely results.
  • Perform month end accounting duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • BA in Accounting or Finance or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities

  • Please list any required special knowledge, abilities or skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Possess excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be detail oriented and have the ability to work independently, prioritize workloads, and complete multiple tasks under deadline pressure.
  • Demonstrate good judgment and sound financial “common sense”.
