Job Description

Position Summary:

The Accounts Receivable Billing Accountant will be the financial focal point for HQ and field staff on a portfolio of projects. The ideal candidate will be primarily responsible for monthly billings, managing field office reporting and ensuring field expense accounting policies and procedures are effectively meeting financial reporting requirements.

Reporting & Supervision:

This position reports directly to the Billing Manager in the Finance Division and is part of the Finance and Contracts Department.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Assist in rollout of new billing software (Unanet)
  • Work on building new billing structure and designing new invoices
  • Become a key contributor in the billing department and assist in moving group forward

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly client invoices in an accurate and timely manner;
  • Research all billing discrepancies and make necessary corrections;
  • Prepare quarterly financial reports for certain projects;
  • Reconcile or review reconciliation of bank statements, petty cash, advance and other accounts with general ledger;
  • Make recommended adjusting journal entries;
  • Review field expenses using the field database in an accurate and timely manner;
  • Research all expense discrepancies and makes necessary corrections;
  • Communicate the deficiencies with the field finance personnel on a timely basis;
  • Prepare journal entries on a monthly basis;
  • Calculate and prepare rate variance adjustment vouchers based on changes in NICRA for the organization;
  • Assist with firm’s independent auditors (i.e., DCAA/IRS/Bank) on accounting matters;
  • Assist in the month-end closing and distribution of monthly financial reports;
  • Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compiles a variety of special reports; and
  • Communicate with co-workers, management, clients and others in a courteous and professional manner.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and over five (5) years’ experience in accounting or over 10 years of accounting experience without a degree;
  • Must be able to work independently;
  • Must be detail oriented and organized;
  • Must be able to work on multi-tasks;
  • Computer friendly and capable;
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing;
  • Ability to review and analyze any problems/issues and come up with recommendations on how to solve the problems/issues; and
  • Excellent organizational skills with a willingness to assume responsibilities and take initiative; ability to be a team player.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Windows based Microsoft Dynamic SL 2017;
  • Previous experience with Unanet; and
  • Prior U.S. Government Contractor/NGO experience.
