Advisor - Multi-Sectoral Business Development Lead

Summary

This critical role will lead the effort to broaden Save the Children US’s (SCUS) funding pipeline and successful bidding for funding from public donors in areas outside of health, food security and livelihoods, child protection and education. You will support country offices globally to identify, investigate and prepare for US Government opportunities related to gender, disability inclusion, democracy and governance, and climate change. For identified opportunities, you will lead the bid strategy in partnership with the Country Office(s) and other SCUS departments —determining the resources needed, the appropriate partnerships, and winning strategies for staffing, management and technical design.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

  • Assume the role of Proposal Director for cross-sectoral and multi-sectoral USG proposals, overseeing matrixed, multi-stakeholder, dispersed proposal teams, leading all aspects of proposal strategy, ensuring that proposal development resources are in place, and that key decisions on partnerships, technical and management strategy and staffing reflect an understanding of donor/client preferences, our competitive position and win strategies; in partnership with country office staff (50%)
  • Develop and manage a funding pipeline of upcoming opportunities in collaboration with wider New Business Development team, cross-cutting technical experts in multiple locations, and country office leadership (20%)
  • Develop and maintain a network of partner contacts to facilitate successful partnership negotiation for prime and sub roles on upcoming opportunities (10%)
  • Contribute to organizational learning and knowledge management for business development (10%)
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of business development practices and systems (10%)

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 7 years of relevant experience
  • Proven experience with USAID funded activities, particularly in new business development with a demonstrated track record of developing winning proposals in a variety of technical areas
  • Proven expertise in USAID requirements, behaviors, and trends,
  • Demonstrated success and ability in building and maintaining internal and external networks with a proven ability to communicate, collaborate, and influence cross-culturally
  • Professional proficiency in verbal and written English
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion, and belonging

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on USAID funded activities related to democracy and governance, gender, disability inclusion or climate change
  • Experience working with country-offices, or country office-led technical design
  • Competency in French, Spanish or Arabic
