Advisory Board for IPE Africa Limited Scope of Work

We are currently looking to bring together an Advisory Board to work closely with the IPE’s leadership team stepping up the firms consulting activities in Africa.

The Advisory Board is foreseen to provide IPE with cutting-edge knowledge, innovative advice and dynamic perspectives on International Development in an Africa context. Likewise, the Advisory Board is expected to help build long-lasting networks with key development partners as well as strengthen IPE client facing in Africa.

The Advisory Board is envisaged to composed of thought-leaders and practitioners in one of the following areas of expertise; Education, Fragile and Conflicted Affected States, Health & Nutrition, Urban Development and Infrastructure.

Indicative Role and Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic guidance to the IPE leadership team on accomplishing its Africa growth ambition.
  • In coordination with IPE sector leads, engage in direct business development activities; including assist with opportunity planning, positioning, capture, partnering, recruiting and writing / QA proposal methodologies.
  • Serve as a thought leader and high level representative for IPE Africa in the wider development community on matters related to business development.
  • Design and manage IPE Africa thought leadership events.
  • Provide technical assistance to IPE sector leads, with a focus on quality assurance of project portfolio.
  • Work on specific projects of interest to IPE
Eligibility Criteria
  • University degree in relevant field, with strong preference for advanced degree in one of following economics, anthropology, sociology, political science, public administration, public health, medicine.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience of working as a specialist or practitioners in Africa - in one or more of the following areas of expertise; Education, Fragile and Conflicted Affected States, Health & Nutrition, Climate change, Private Sector Development, Urban Development and Infrastructure and other related areas in Developmental sector
  • Demonstrable network and experience of working with the international development community.
  • Experience in direct business development.
  • Experience of designing, delivering and facilitating workshops, trainings etc;
  • Ability to travel internationally
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills;
  • Must be a team player with a track record of collaborating across disciplines;
  • Multi-country experience is preferred.
Reporting

The Advisor will report to IPE Africa’s Executive Director and will work closely with country heads in Kenya and Ethiopia on technical matters relating to Program Management and Business Development.

Inputs

The advisor will be required for a guaranteed period of 12 days per annum. Any additional input mandays over and above the 12 days fixed period will be taken on need basis and reimbursed separately.

Honorarium
  • Advisors will be paid an honorarium for their input days.
  • Economy Air travel will be reimbursed.
  • Accommodation and per diem as company regulations.
