Focus on the Africa 1 Desk

The Africa 1 Desk consists of 10 staff members who oversee PUI’s programs in Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, and Sudan.

What About the Africa 1 Intern?

As an Africa 1 Intern, you will support the Program Manager in developing, implementing, and monitoring PUI’s field operations.

Key tasks include:

  • Contributing to the capitalization of contextual information
  • Preparing briefing materials for departing expatriates
  • Supporting project management and monitoring activities
  • Participating in technical project follow-up based on your background and the Africa Desk’s priorities (e.g. health, mental health, nutrition, WASH, food security and livelihoods, protection)

Technical involvement will depend on the intern’s profile and operational priorities set by the Program Officer.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

Training Agreement:
You must be enrolled in a Master’s-level program (Master 2 or equivalent) in a field related to humanitarian action—such as project management, technical disciplines related to our sectors, social sciences, political science, or economics—and be able to provide a convention de stage (internship agreement).

Experience:
Previous involvement in nonprofit or humanitarian organizations, whether in France or abroad, is a plus.

Skills:

  • Excellent writing skills
  • Strong computer proficiency (especially in Word and Excel)

Qualities:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Team-oriented, proactive, and adaptable
  • Autonomous, curious, and well-organized

Languages:

  • Fluency in French and English is essential
  • Proficiency in Spanish is a plus
